Re: Fuel Line Replacement
Walter,
The fuel line on my ‘66 was replaced when I bought the car in order to make the car safe and road worthy. The body was not removed, but the line was not installed where the original line went. So, my answer is no, it can’t be done and look original without lifting the body to some extent.
But as Jim says, it could depend on which C2 year you’re talking about, as some lines were routed differently during the C2 era. I can’t remember if it was the brake line or the gas line or both.

Re: Fuel Line Replacement
Here are photos of the fuel line on a '67. The line passes thru the frame at the rear kickup. and on top of the frame along the way, then under the battery tray. Looks extremely difficult if not impossible to install with the body on......- Top

Re: Fuel Line Replacement
I too am interested in how to replace the fuel line on a '66. Specifically the body lift steps. Can anyone share how they do it, step by step. How far up does the body need to be lifted, just the right side mounts, etc?? Technique for lifting? Thanks.- Top

Re: Fuel Line Replacement
Without a doubt you can replace the fuel line just by loosening the right-side body mounts and jacking up the body.- Top

Re: Fuel Line Replacement
Gary, I do not remember how high the right-side has to be lifted. I know I have done this more than once. I would say lift the right-side inch by inch looking on how much room you have. After four inches you are going to know how much higher you have to go in order to remove the fuel line.- Top

Re: Fuel Line Replacement
I would think that if you raise the right side significantly, you would place a considerable "strain" on the left side body mounts, radiator hose, shift lever, fuel tank neck, etc.- Top
