    1963 seat bottom

    Hoping someone out there can help me. The burlap is missing from the bottom of the seats in '63 Coupe and have been that way since I bought it. I would like to get the burlap installed and I have a local automotive upholsterer that can do it, but I would like to get all the parts together before I send the seat bottoms to him. The foam is fine, so it is just the burlap that I would like to get installed. I have looked in the past threads and there was some discussion regarding the hog rings from CA as opposed to Al Knoch and a video at CA, but I could not find it. Just wondering if anyone has done this before and might have a list of parts needed and who best to buy them from. Also, any photographs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any and all help.

    Sven, it's not the hog rings. it's the clips that attach the vinyl to the frame. Al Knoch's guys must be magicians to use the short clips. The ones from CA are longer and easier to use.

    It's easier than you think, give it a shot.

    The seat layers are the vinyl, foam, jute then the burlap. Is the jute installed on yours?

        Bob, I ordered the entire kit X2082. I think it's about $32.00. I'll look for their installation video.

        Got it -----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehHhk6Rr_Pk

        Look at the length of the clips at each location on the bottom.

            Harry is correct - AK hooks are short - virtually impossible to install - they will open up from the force you put on them trying to get them to hook before you can get them to hook. The CA hooks are about 25% longer and that lenght makes the project manageable. For the record, the pic that Harry posted above showing two clips - I may be wrong but..... I don't believe that is a CA clip vs an AK clip - a seat assembly kit contains clips of two different lengths. I think the clip on the left is the long one - short one obviously on the right. I say this because I am pretty confident that the difference in the lengths of the 2 clips in the pic does not represent the difference in length between a CA clip and an AK clip. What ever - get the CA kit - it will save a lot of frustration.

              Ed, I just picked two to show that they were not hog rings. The actual clips from CA can be seen in the video.

                Harry. Thanks for the photos and video link. I was looking on the CA website for it. I haven't had the seats out for awhile, but I will pull one tomorrow and check for the jute. Have a feeling it may not be there. Sounds like X2082 from CA is the right way to go.

                  Harry. I pulled a seat and here are a couple of pics of what is there. Is the grey material the jute?

                    Harry, Are these the same clips that you substituted with wire ties in a prior thread?
