Is there a way to access the space lateral to the wsw compartment on 69?

    Guys,

I'm re-installing my wsw door and dropped one of the bolts and it fell down into the space lateral to the wsw area that seems to fall off into an abyss. I've looked around and there seems to be no way to get in there. Any way to access that area?

I am pretty sure that if you take off the kick panel inside the car, and open the flapper, it will be there. If it is an ac car, say a fond farewell to the nolt.

Yeah I tried that but no luck so far. I'll look again.

I use a magnetic tool, (for retrieving) it works well, think about stuffing rags into those corners under the door.

Us C2 guys can't work on C3's. But if it's similar to a C2, there is a drain hole to the ground just below the kick panel vent. Is the part you dropped laying on your garage floor?

Ha I wish. I did check there first, as well as in the car on the floor but no luck. I fished around in there with a magnetic pick up tool for like 30 minutes with no luck. After I lost the first bolt I did stuff rags in there for the rest of the job.

              Mike,
As Harry mentioned, there are drains on both sides along the frame directly below the side vent that's not "open" next to the body to frame bolt. It's been about 30 years since I took a wire coat hanger and bent a small hook on the end and pulled out years of debris, along with several of the white bushings and a couple of those special bolts. Hopefully these pics with help. Let us know what you find in there! Don

Michael, a trick I have used is to block the hole with a towel and prevent the screws from falling in that abyss. That won't help you retrieve the lost one but it will prevent more from disappearing.
