Extra Trim Tag Stamping

Does anyone have any information as to the meaning of the separately stamped "6865" in this trim tag?

Probably a dealer stamped delivery date. Dealers were instructed to do it, but many didn't. Does June 8, 1965 work for this car?

J26 is May 26, 65 build date. So Jun 8, 65 is a pretty close delivery date. The delivery dealer must have been pretty close to St. Louis. Scott, that date was supposed to be stamped on the vin tag, after the DD next to Chevrolet. But the SS vin tag made it difficult. So some dealers chose to stamp the aluminum Trim tag. But most skipped it altogether.

Does June 8, 1965 work for this car?

Body built May 26, Birthday Calendar estimates May 28th final assembly... So, yes, I believe it does work for the car.

Don - Nothing extra stamped on the VIN tag, so this must be where they stamped it. Thanks for the reply!
