    Delco 6 volt generator

Can anyone identify this generator from these numbers: All I can read is 0028 plus the date 4k1. There might be numbers ahead of the zeros and after the 8 but I can't make anything out further. Is that enough info. Brian.

    Brian,

Try rubbing a soft lead pencil over the stampings or put tracing paper of the stampings and rub with a soft lead pencil?

Just tried that, nothing more comes up. Any further suggestions?

According to the 1929-1959 parts catalog, #1100028 is for 1954 passenger and 54-55 commercial, 6 volt, 40 amp H.D. The date code 4K1 fits (1954, November 1) Which probably is for 1955 commercial but probably too late for 6 volt Corvette except for the very few 55 6 cylinders.

            Brian,
Since this was also used for commercial vehicles, not only Corvette, there are probably many out there. I needed to find an original 6 volt for my 51 Chevy and found it pretty quickly on eBay. They are out there and very easy to rebuild.
