    '65 Door Panel Questions

After slightly more than 2 yrs of effort into completely rebuilding my '65 Corvette Coupe the light at the end of the tunnel is beginning to become a little stronger. Having said that I made the mistake of tossing out the door panels while listening to my wife about cleaning up the garage. Thus the reason for my questions.
    1) Did the wing window have a Bessel with it?
    2) Would someone please identify the part in the picture and explain its use?
    3) Where can I find a BOM structure for a '65 Corvette Coupe door panel - not satisfied with part vendor diagrams

    Thank you!

    Lawrence-
Never throw any take off parts away, unless they are FLAPS parts, no matter what the wife says, find a better hiding place.
No bezel under the wind-wing handle. Only the window handle had a spacer under it.
The part in your photo is one of 4 (?) clips that fastened to the bottom of the door panel to screw to underside of the door.
    What's a BOM structure of a 65 door panel?

Helpful information (I think) in pdf from Database of Restoration Documents in sticky above.

Corvette Door Anatomy Mod 9-22-14 DZ.pdf

Questioned part is a door panel clip. See page 8 of pdf above.

"BOM" was for a Bill of Materials. Never seen a door panel BOM, as I expect these door panels were manufactured by an outside vendor.

        Don,

Thanks for pic and identification of the part used on the door panel.
A BOM structure is a Bill-of-Material structure and in this case would be of a '65 Corvette door.
The BOM would identify every part used on the door, usually via a small pic and arrows pointing as to where it resides, as well as the part number for ordering when used by parts dealers.
Finally, thanks for reminding me not to throw away anything until the car is 100% finished. My buddy now reminds me every day.

          Dave,

My buddy, who is helping me with rebuilding of my '65, says the information you provided is the best he has seen.
I really appreciate all of it and know we will be using parts of it throughout the remainder of our efforts with the door and window.

          Again, thank you!

P.S. Take a look at Paragon Corvette and Top Flight Auto and type in the part for the door panel and you should see BOM.
I know Paragon has one in their book, which you can download (Note: faster to do that and look it up than using their Website as it is SLOW).

            Dave,

I'm concluding you installed a new door panel and was wondering if you had any issues with the wing window handle? The one I have does not as it leaves roughly a 1/4" gap on the bottom. Concern is that the die used by this company may have an issue and obviously color matching is critical.

            Thanks,

            Larry
