'78 Fuel Gauge & low fuel light not working

Ran car a couple months ago and gauge was reading almost empty and low fuel light was on. Started it a couple days ago and gauge was bottomed out on empty and light was not lit. Added 3 gallons and still on empty with no light.
Have 30 ohms between sender wire and ground wire. I assume this indicates a gauge issue, probably the greater of two evils. Appreciate any input.

    Thanks,
    Charlie

If you step on your brake pedal does the gas gauge move?

If so, check for a poor ground connection shared with rear tail lights.

      Dave-
I was doing a test with different resistors to determine if gauge or sender and it started working. So don't really know what happened, but I'll take it.

      Thanks,
      Charlie
