    Attachments missing from historic threads

I've been searching through some earlier (historic) threads from Joe Trybulec but his wealth of information and photos that were originally attached to the thread no longer show up. Am I doings something wrong or are they not available when using the search function?

Re: Attachments missing from historic threads

Most older messages, on all internet forums, relied on links to outside photo storage sites, like Photobucket, which are no longer free or in service. That breaks the link to the pics. This appears to be less of an issue today because of the on-site photo storage capabilities. If you come across your own messages with broken threads, you could perhaps upload photos to replace the links.

Similar link breaking will still occur if you link to a commercial site that can change pages and content at will. If you want to reference a photo/illustration on someone else's site, best to download it to your device and upload with the message.

      Jerry,

Best to always provide an example of what you're referring to, in this case a copy of the thread link, in order for the Admins to check.

Posted photos that are stored on the NCRS TDB server are retained.

Photos posted on another site like PhotoBucket, it's up to the poster and/or the service whether or not they remain posted.

        Thanks Gary
Not sure how to copy a thread to show you as an example so I just replied to one of Joe's early threads "Another rare item" as an an example of (at least for me) not being able to see the attachments on a thread.

          Jerry,

Go to the top of your browser that has the URL displayed in it and copy it. Then paste into a post.

Jerry - Below is a 'cut off' screenshot from the page you've referenced.
When images come from OUTSIDE this website, there is no control/means to house them forever.
If that original website no longer exists, the image is forever lost.
Thatz why itz best to upload your images HERE (to the NCRS website), when making a post.
