    1969 Seat metal clip?

Just getting to know my machine...wondering what these clips are on the front area of the seat bottoms. I see some cars that have them and some that dont. Is this for the "custom shoulder belts" that came with the 69 coupes (optional on convertibles) or for something else?

I will work from my memory since my 6th Edition of the 1968-69 TIM&JG is MIA, the earliest style of these seat clips (I am sure Chevrolet found some other way to describe them) were wire in an open loop. The later style is pictured. That said, I agree with Joe in that they, in the wire form, first appeared in 1969. I believe the pictured form appeared before the end of 1969 production.

Joe does your October built 1969 have the later style.

My 1969 was built in mid-September, 1969 and it has the style clips as pictured in the original post.

I have a friend who is the original owner of an October, 1968-built coupe. His car has the same style clips as mine.

My October '68 car does not have the clips. Actually, I wish it did.

68-69 TIM&JG Page 15, says the clip showed up after SN 9745. I've not seen a wire style clip there, but I've not seen every car and very seldom judge interior. Maybe somebody else can chime in.

My Oct 4, 1968 build date, SN 3676 did not have any clips.

I've not seen the wire one in a Corvette to date, but even though I judge Interior I've not judged them all as Terry would say.

AFAIK, no one reproduces this part.

                  Re: 1969 Seat metal clip?

My memory of the wire loop style is based on a Corvette owned by a co-worker who influenced me to purchase my 1970. His Corvette was gold and either a late 1968 or early 1969 (probably the latter). Knowing what I know now I should have recorded his VIN and build date at the minimum, but we were just car enthusiasts at the time. He subsequently mover to Canada, near Toronto. Anyone know a Pete Campbell up north? I have tried Google, but the name is too common. Then too, people sell Corvettes and move on.

I'm not one of them. So far, I've bought Corvettes (2 new) but I've never sold one. But, I rarely sell ANYTHING. In my entire life I've sold a total of 1 Corvette part and I've regretted selling it ever since.

Joe, there are meds available for that... or so I've been told. I tell all my car buddies to try and be around when the nieces and nephews clean out the shop after I'm gone.

One of my favorite signs I've seen at swap meets:

My worst fear is that when I die, my wife sells all my parts for what I told her I paid for them.

                              Rich------

It was a 900R fuel injection unit from a 1958 Corvette. This occurred about 20+ years ago. A friend of mine knew a guy that was selling it and asked me how much it was worth. I then asked him how much the guy wanted for it and he told me $1,200. I told him it was worth a lot more than that and we both went to see the guy selling it. When I saw it I realized it must have been a very early take-off as it was in pristine, virtually as-new condition. I told the guy selling it that it was worth a lot more than $1,200. He responded that a lot of people had told him that but none came up with the $1,200. If we did, it was ours. So, my friend and I bought it together. We sold it in less than 2 weeks to a guy with a 58 Corvette for $2,500. That guy told us that we sold it to him too cheap. So, the guy we bought it from was happy, the guy we sold it to was happy and we were happy. But, I quickly came to regret it. I should have bought my friend out and kept it. If I had, I'm sure I'd still have it today. Of course, I'd have no use for it as I'm really not a C1 guy but I'd still have it.
