    Keeping track of Sportsman points

Is anyone in HQ keeping track of the Sportsman points in your account profile? I notice all the ones I had thought I earned since the Sportsman Award plaque I received are not showing up.

Mike, as I recall you have a certain period of time to use the point, else they expire.

Well, they have all accrued since the 2019 National, which was the first one after I got the plaque in 2018. How quickly do they expire?

Think it's defined in the Judging Reference Manual

You receive the Award and the points and other requirements must occur in the proceeding three years. Saying that, any points after the 2019 National should still be in the system. If no, did you ever see them there. If not, the Judging chairman from whatever event you were at did not enter them.

Yes, it says you get the additional plates by being at a national in any single year where you get 10 points, but it doesn't say how these are tracked.

No, I didn't see them in my profile since the 2018 National, where I got the plaque. Maybe I didn't get 10 points in 2019, where I did a regional, national, and chapter, but seems like that adds up to 10 points. I guess maybe somebody forgot to enter them into the system?

                Mike,

Since you have received your Sportsman Award plaque, you are now accumulating sportsman points for an add-on bug to the plaque. The add-on bugs can only be earned by re-presentation at a National Convention in any single year that the member accumulates 10 additional points (including Sportsman participation at the National Convention). This one-year period runs from the day after the previous year's National Convention through the current year's National Convention. An individual cannot earn a second Sportsman Plaque by repeating the process. The bottom line is that any points you receive during any year will be reset at the end of the year even if you have 10 points and present the car at a National Convention for the add-on bug.

Thanks guys, I guess I need to keep a closer track of them on my profile. Since nothing showed up for any of my 3 2019 Sportsman entries after the 2018 national where I got my plaque, I thought maybe things change after that and they don't show up. In the future, I will follow it more closely and ask the meet leads why they are not showing up before the end of the year.

Yes, I know, I never did Sportsman with any of my flight judging. The specific ones that didn't show up in 2019 were a SoCal Chapter meet, the National in SC, and the regional at Lake Tahoe. I only did Sportsman and judged in those. I guess the meet leads just didn't turn it in.

                      Michael,

Best you contact the Judging Chairmen for the events your missing. Awards system is only as good as the inputs.

It seems you have been bringing your C2s to most of the recent events you attend. If you're shipping the Flight cars, and driving another Corvette to the event as a Sportsman, you won't receive Sportsman credit, because again, you can only do Sportsman, nothing else, at the same event.
Perhaps this would explain the lack of credit for Sportsman points on your summary.

I have never heard this above explanation anywhere - only that the same car cannot used for Sportsman and another judged/PV activity at the same meet.
I believe that JRM, Section 12, Sub 2, Line Item H illustrates this.
Also, Line Item I refers to multiple Sportsman cars.
Perhaps a senior judging official will clarify for us?

Well, that may explain why 2019 did not count, since the regional I did in 2019 was after the National and the chapter and National were earlier in 2019. But still not sure why Sportsman points are not showing up in my profile.

                              Dave,
Yes, "Participant" certainly does leave room for multiple interpretations.
Saying "...at the same meet with that same car." would be clearer, if that's what the paragraph meant.
Maybe that'll be cleared up in the JRM 10th Edition...
