    1953 vin #0001 and 0002

Several years ago I recall reading on this forum the history and demise of the 1953 Vin #'s 1 and 2. As I recall Vin #1 was sent on show tour to Canada and #2 to the United States. Sometime in 1954 one of the vehicles was intentionally destroyed by fire and the other refitted with new body panels and a 265 V8. What became of the second vehicle? I have been unable to locate the original thread on this forms search site and would like a little history on each vehicle.

There is an extensive article that has been printed and reprinted in The Restorer, if you have access.

Great documentation of the 1st. nine 53 Corvettes to leave the assembly line in Flint and dispels numerous myths about their construction. Interesting that the only original part from vin #0003 is the vin plate itself and that vin #0003 was actually the first Corvette off the assembly line in 1953 ahead of vin #'s 1 & 2.
