Robert. I had 66 conv. vent window frames plated there. Very, Very nice job, price quoted (and honored) before sending, and done in the time frame promised. I would endorse that business without hesitation. I had the frames copper plated before re-plate, Craig will explain to you the price difference. The returned frames looked almost too good to be on a car. First time in my life any plater did what I wanted, for the price quoted in advance, and returned parts in the time promised.

Another excellent Chrome plater is M&P Refinishing in Jeannette, PA.
They do an excellent job on pot metal
He's a sub contractor for several other platers. Names I cannot give out.
They have done seminars for the Pittsburgh Chapter.
I use them for the midyear fuel injections. Oil tubes and balance tubes and fuel lines. Show chrome. Perfect.
        They have a website.
Numerous restoration shops in the USA send their parts to M&P.
        Mention my name.

I had a heavily modified front bumper from my '67 Camaro chrome plated at Ogden Chrome. They paid shipping both ways. It took them awhile. When I received it, There was a small defect that I am sure nobody but me would notice but I called them and they sent Fed Ex to pick it up. They replated it and sent it back to me. Again, free shipping. It is perfect. I highly recommend them. This the same company that plates Dave Kindig's stuff (from Bitchin Rides/Kindigit Design)

Suggest you consider Librandi's in PA. I had a pitted C2 console rechromed - excellent work, price was reasonable. I sent pics of the item - got an estimate, sent it - final fee was below estimate by about 20% - What I liked was they will talk with you, and answer e mails pretty quickly. Good luck --- https://www.carchrome.com/

I have had several pieces chrome plated by Speed and Sport Chrome. They do a good job at the price quoted. They probably do too good a job. I have not had my car judged yet, but may get a deduction for the chrome job being too nice and thicker than original chrome was. This is not a complaint just a fact that you find with most good platers.

                Ed,

What year C2 console did you have redone? I have a 67 that could use some help.
                Thanks,
                Jerry

                  Jerry,
I have a '64 convert - I had some pitting on the outside edge (both sides) and on the inside surface for the hole for the shifter. I sent the console completely stripped of any paint. They did the rest. I don't know where you are - I built a wooden box - custom fit - for the console - that I shipped it in. I will send the box to you for the cost of shipping if you want it - no charge for the box. It is very sturdy and will protect the console in transit. Let me know if you are interested.

I also recommend Librandi's, in Middletown, PA. Mitch, who manages the vehicle restoration department was at Carlisle a few years ago and gave me a quote right there and then. The returned work at their quoted price was fantastic! Well packaged shipping too.

A note on the wood box which I think is well worth the time. Fedex will sometimes charge a hefty fee for using a wood box, even ground. If you wrap the wood in cardboard it doesn't apply. I think it depends on who sees it during its journey. I don't think UPS charges extra.

Mark, FYI, UPS is no longer in the freight business. They sold that part of their business about 6 months ago, and do not use the company they sold it too either. UPS will not take anything over 150 lbs.

However, I will be able to tell you shortly who to and who not to use to ship heavy items. I am in the middle of this right now. I can tell you do not use Old Dominion, unless you want to pay an arm and a leg. But they did do a good job in shipping my C1 front suspension, I just paid way too much is all.

                          Robert,

My first question to you is, where are you located. Second, do you want "show chrome", or would you prefer that is commercially acceptable like it was when your car was new. Either way, as mentioned in the previous replies above there are many good chrome platers that can do the job. However, I reside in Connecticut, and I have been using a plater not too far from where I live that can and will do factory style chrome or all out show chrome. I personally am only 30 minutes from their facility, which enables me to periodocaly police the project. The name of the company is Reliable Plating located on Bishop Ave. in Bridgeport, CT. I have been utilizing them for over 40 years, If you are interested in giving them a try, then reach out to Scott Cleary at (203) 366 - 5261 and use my name.
