Total point deducts on two items? 1967

What is the total point deduct for side exhaust on an A.O. Smith car? The judging sheets give a total of 20 points to originality and 20 points to condition. I know Bloomington deducts for the existing system AND the absence of the correct system.

What is the current thinking on body paint deducts? Is it all or nothing if BC/CC is detected and is obvious (versus BC/CC applied with a successful imitation of original finish). Total of 85 points can be deducted based on judging sheets.

I am aware that there are variations in how different judges view these two items and at what level the car is being judged, but I am looking for the general consensus of what these deducts would be based on on-gong training of judges.

It's hard to provide an exact number because there could be variances in how the addition was made. You're roughly starting our with about a 130 to 140 point deduction. That's approximate and others may offer adjustments to this number.

Unfortunately there is no right answer to your question. If you left attached the original rear valance with the holes, opposed to one with no holes you get a different answer. Same applies to cutting off the rocker panel tabs or just bending them back. Each car will be different. The answer as I recall is somewhere between 125 and 175 points.

I just read a prior thread and noticed that there is also disagreement concerning the 25 point deduct or no deduct in the operations section. Do your points include those or no?

I included Operations in my opinion. If it sounds like N11 you are probably ok, but if the sound makes your eyes hurt, not so good! I usually tell the Chassis team to tell the Operations team and work it out.
