Question On C2(66) Convertible Door Glass R&R

When one wants to just change out door glass for coding(LOF) reasons only does the Ventilator Assembly
have to be removed out of the car? Looking at the Service Manual it indicates to remove it. When
I looked at all the Figures/Instructions given is seems to me on a Convertible when the sash retaining nuts are removed
the Glass should be able to be pulled out. What am I missing here? Has anybody removed the Glass W/O
removing the Ventilator Assembly out of the Car? Thanks in Advance>Larry

    Larry,

I can confirm for a ‘66 coupe that the vent window does not need to be removed in order to remove the main side glass. Unfortunately, I have no experience with convertibles.

Gary>Thanks for the response; but I want to make sure we are on the same"Page". I did not ask if the Vent Glass had to be
removed but the the Ventilator Assembly(which contains the vent glass) had to be removed. That is the long frame type
assembly which in the figure shows the guy twisting it pulling it out from the top. I can see where it might have to be removed
on a Coupe but can't see why it needs to be removed on a Convertible. Comments Please>Larry

Sorry, yes, I meant the entire vent frame does not need to be removed.

Thanks Gary for the info. Just wondering why the Service Manual instructs us to take the
Ventilator Assembly out for both the Coupe and Convertible. Any other thoughts on this?? Larry

I have no idea. I just know that most people have learned there is no need to follow the Service Manual.
