adhesive to glue carpet in my 67 coupe

I live in palm springs and know that heat will not be good on adhesive. I use a heat gun to remove it on decals and other things.
I have 3M spray, and another from I think permatex.
What do you that have done this in hot temp done.
I did it years ago and used brush (real contact glue), but was near the beach in CA and no problem. Here in Palm springs it gets 120F and I don't want the carpet to delaminate.
I would appreciate any one who dealt with this temp to let me know. I am hesitant to spray the 3M if it's going to react to these temps.

I sparingly apply 3M carpet adhesive in selected areas to keep carpet in place while also enabling easy removal when needed.

I've never tested it by parking the car in 120 degree heat, but should be ok if not in direct sun. Keeping it out of the sun in hot weather may be your best bet.

I used Wellwood contact cement - the "original" that is a liquid and comes in a can. You apply it with a brush - it is not a spray. Easier to control - a spray naturally has "over spray" and may to on surfaced you don't want to be covered. The liquid stuff is less messy and manageable. Buy a bunch of cheap 1.5 - 2 inch brushes - like from the Dollar Tree. When you are finished with a section and want to quit for the day there is no saving the brush - it will dry rock hard. Toss it and start with a new one the next session. Also ---- get a roll of 2 inch wide double back carpet tape (Lowes or HD) --- I comes in handy when applying most pieces of carpet - get the carpet positioned exactly where you want it. Hold it in place with one hand, roll half of the piece back and then apply 2 or 3 strips of tape to the fiberglass close to the center of the carpet piece - carefully roll the piece back down on the tape - now you can glue half the carpet piece down - after the glue cures & holds, roll back the other half and glue it down.

Yes, contact cement works best when applied to both surfaces and then joined. Be warned --- it is very unforgiving - once the two sides make "contact" they really stick together - tearing them apart to make a fit adjustment might result in tearing some backing off the carpet.

            Hi Dom,
I used the Permatex Headliner Adhesive, the car sat out in the parking lot for the Nationals in Palm Springs last July the temperature that day was 114*. I also recommend using it lightly, and practice gluing a scrape of the carpet in the carpet area of the car body.

Thanks guys, I especially like the carpet tape. I found that contact cement is different than it was years ago, some water base and some solvent based like thinner.
This will be hard to believe but back in the 70's when we repaired counter tops that were burned by a hot pan, we coated both surfaces till dry (can instruction) then put a paper between, then positioned it. Then slid the paper out and pressed it down.
I understand that this is a 1 shot deal!
