Sealant for fenderwells and firewall

Assembly manual calls for a GM P/N 9980664 but it has been long discontinued. don't see any replacement. does anyone know whats available now that is close to original stuff?

I have used std size caulk tubes of black roof flashing sealer, (not silicone) it looks similar to the original type black sealer, is made for water sealing, and is readily available at home improvement stores, .
I used it to seal the Heaterbox cover to the firewall on this 69 Camaro and you can see the consistency and appearance in the photo.
