    reassembly of 67 coupe

I have a few questions as to sequence of installing all the parts in a door. Currently the only part in the doors are the power window motors and lower mechanism . I have gathered all the info I could from here and other sources and I am still unsure of the order of reassembly. The parts in question are the upper window bubble channel / the vent window assembly / the rear window channel / the window itself / and the outer window chrome trim strip with the rubber window wiper . When I took it apart @ 10 years ago I didn't have to worry about paint and now fresh from paint I only want to do this once to minimize accidents to the paint . Any help will be appreciated / thanks in advance Jeff.

    Jeff,
I did my 67 coupe doors off the car and on a fixture. I have power windows and had no problems. Now if you install new wx rubber around the door,
I found that the new rubber will hold the top of the door out. Now I Pre stress the door to meet the roof, and use paint sticks to keep it from touching.
Then use a lube specially for the rubber wx striping to find it home. Syl glide was one, but I would bet petrolium jelly would work.
After all is seated in about 3 days you can remove the lube. I kept it on as it was made for the rubber to seat. Found that the rubber would not slip into the body unless it was lubed. Now my wx rubber is formed to the body.

              Jeff,
Are you using the service manual for the instructions? There was a service bulletin from August 67 showing window removal, reinstallation without removing the ventilator. That is how I have done any of my cars. The bulletin is in the back of your Judging Guide.
              Kind regards

                  Jeff,

The order I used for my ‘66 coupe last summer was 1, 3, 5, 2, 4. I didn’t replace item 6, so I’m not certain where that would go in the sequence. Is item 6 secured via 1 rivet or 1 screw? If so, you’d have to have access to do that attachment.

No. 6 has a bubble clip on one side it go on the inside rear corner of the door . I think it transitions into the door panel . Thank you very much for the order sequence. Jeff

Then I think 6 could be installed before or after 3 or 5. Not sure which is best. But before the main side glass goes in, I think.

Thanks for all your replies I think I can see the end of the tunnel now but I have one question / you have the rear window channel that houses the window fuzzie run going in last / how do you get that in the door / down the window opening / or thru the access hole on the inside of the door / and once in how do you attach the lower bubble clip and bottom screw that holds the fuzzie to the channel . I hope my question is clear enough / I read the service bulletin in the tech manual and I can't make sense of it .Thanks in advance . Jeff

The lower, rear window run/channel goes in thru the large access hole in the inner door panel. With the window rolled up or motored to the top, and after the channel is slipped vertically onto place, then the lowest bubble clip is snapped into the metal channel. The bottom screw then attaches the fuzzy to the channel at the bottom from inside the door cavity. Lastly, the two black phosphate Phillips head screws are installed thru the door jam into the metal of the rear window run to lock the metal rear window run into place.
