Mike, it's not worth the time to fix an old gauge when a new one can be bought for $75.00.

          Frank,
If you look at the pictures that are posted in the link you provided, the kit from corvette pacifica (Wells) looks physically different from the one from corvette central (I don't see a manufacturer listed). Why do you think they are the same kit? Also, back to Mike's comment about needle bounce, you noted that the one you installed (Wells) dis not show any discernable bounce, but what about the one from Corvette Central? Perhaps that one does - has anyone installed one of these and looked for needle bounce?

              Re: Voltage Regulator Rebuild

As far as a C1 solid state conversion there is next to nobody doing this in the US, this company in England specializes in this field though:
Dynamo rebuilding and conversion. Two brush conversion. Electronic regulators.LED light bulbs and light boards for classic and vintage cars and motorcycles

Here is the email they sent me when I inquired about a C1 solid state voltage regulator:

              "Hi Frank,
We have recognised the need for such a regulator and are now in the final stages of developing one.
I'm just waiting on our prototype build for testing.

They should be available in the spring.

What sort of demand is there quantity wise for these conversions?
Our solid state electronic regulators are all current limited (35a in this case) and fuse protected.

              Let me know.

              Peter?"

Sometimes these things fizzle out thoughl, we'll see soon...

                Gary,
Did you buy your conversion kit from Corvette Central? What did the after conversion look like? Is the exterior and underside look like nothing was done to it?
                Thanks
                Jerry

                  Re: Voltage Regulator Rebuild

If you read the whole thread, it give the Part # from Corvette Central. The last one I did, I bought an Echlin Solid State Regulator from a Starter, Generator rebuilder. I took the guts out and transferred it to the old Delco. I wasn't worried about looks. Rivets I used was a little different.
Still working today, well I should say a few weeks ago when I drove the car.
