Is it typical to find a '66 A O Smith trim tag without a body build date code in the upper left corner? Thanks.

Garry, I've never seen one but anomalies do occur with Trim Tags. A picture might be helpful. Also if you want a date the car was built you can get a Shipping Data Report. Good luck.

I've seen one... not my trim tag, so I wiped out the last two (2) numbers in the A-04XX BODY number.
(no other alterations were made)

Clearly things happened and didn't happen. Jack's photo is very telling and somewhat reassuring that the one being considered is real. I Prefer not to post a tag photo of a car my friend is considering, so thanks everyone for your thoughts.
