I am putting the carburetor back on my '70 next week hopefully. I have read torque recommendations is between 60-80. Should I end up closer to 60 or 80?

100%
Just found specs in the AIM. Seems really tight though.

Re: 1970 Holley Carburetor Install Torque
Finger tight and then maybe a 1/4 turn more with a wrench...don't want to warp the base. This is plenty tight.Leif

Re: 1970 Holley Carburetor Install Torque
The page you are showing is for the NA9 option with the Holley. If your 1970 Corvete is so equipped, that is fine. If not so equipped, it would be best to see the section that shows installation of the Holley carburetor in the LT1 section. I am not sure if the torque values are different, but it would be wise to verify the similarity of those values. The gasket between the carburetor and the intake manifold is different for the NA9 and the "standard" Holley on the LT1.

Holley lists 60 to 80 INCH POUNDS for carburetor to manifold attachment torque on their web site. Link below
