I have an OEM original air cleaner, however the base while original doesn't have the hanger paint void marks. I presume a previous owner repainted it. My question is it worthy stripping it and repainting to include the hanger marks for judging purposes ? If anyone has a photo of a air cleaner base with correct hanger marks please post.

I just looked at the 1970-72 TIM&JG. The sentence dealing with the shadow of the hook says that shadow was "frequently" there. Frequently does not mean always, so relax. The TIM&JG is not intended to be a "How to do it" book. If one tries to use it as a rigid instruction manual it will lead one down a very expensive rabbit hole that has no end.Terry- Top

Re: 72 LT1 air cleaner
Hi Terry, I believe the paint on the air cleaner base appears to be untouched. My original question came from the reference in the 1970-72 TIM&JG. As always your input is very helpful.Fred Hickey

Re: 72 LT1 air cleaner
Terry, photo of our air cleaner base. We believe the paint it original without any hanger marks, we plan on using it (cleaned up) as is.
