    66 Power Steering Pump Pulley

I'm adding power steering to my 66 restoration. The original pump I acquired to rebuild has the stamped steel pulley installed. I need to replace with the cast iron pulley as needed with L79. How do you remove the stamped steel pulley? The shop manual shows a tool configuration I'm not familiar with.
    Any help is appreciated.

You will need a special pulley puller. You will note that the hub of the stamped steel pulley has an extension with grooves on either side. This is where the puller attaches to the pulley. The press bolt of the puller then pushes against the end of the pump shaft. DO NOT attempt to use a common type puller that attaches to the outer rim of the pulley; that will distort the pulley and ruin it. Of course, if you don't care about that pulley, I suppose you could do it that way.

Below is an economical puller that will work correctly.

With 1963-74 Corvette PS pumps, no tool is required to install the pulley on the pump shaft as the special lock nut will press the pulley into its seat on the shaft. However, with the 1975+ pumps an installer tool is necessary.
