C2 coded key question

Good morning , have a few questions on the coded knockout on the keys , does it get removed and if so both sets, if removed are they present in the glove box for judging an if so are they in a special envelope.

Cars are judged "as delivered by the dealership". Many, if not most, dealers back in the day punched out the knockout codes and gave them to the customer at delivery to put in a safe place (not in the glovebox). These codes could then be brought back to the dealer to have new keys made, if necessary.

Having worked at car dealers "back in the day" (Wilkin's Chevrolet in Norfolk among others), the above is exactly correct.
