    69 A/C Hose Fitting Finish

According to the TIM&JG 6th Edition the nuts on the A/C hoses are aluminium. In the color photo in the manual the nuts don't look like aluminum (but hard to tell in a photo). My questions apply to both the male and female fittings.

My original hoses have steel fittings. They appear to have been painted an "aluminum" color. The car is a September 69.

Is this an anomaly, or is this an error in the judging manual?

After a thorough cleaning, should I paint the fittings or leave them natural?

    Thanks,
    Mike

here is a tip if those fittings are called out in the AIM with a part number, then that means it was installed at St louis and was natural finish or plated by the supplier (paint or chemical finish) if there is no number that means it was installed at the engine plant and was painted engine color, or crudely masked off
