Oil filter cannister rebuild kit C1 C2

I have been looking around for a rebuild kit for a 56-67 oil filter cannister rebuild kit. I've bought them through the years and cannot seem to find one. Am I missing something obvious?

    Thanks,
    Tim

Like many things lately I can't seem to find a rebuild kit either - but there isn't much to them, maybe you can recondition the original canister you already have.

Tim , what wrong with your oil Cannister
is it leaking , oil filter cartridge comes with the filter and upper rubber o'ring, the rebuild kit comes with only a lock clip and small rubber washer and a copper washer , the bottom crush copper washer is the one that leaks, 48058743d1485783935-oil-filter-canister-rebuild-kit-oil_canister_kit.jpg i rebuild mine with out a kit i match up the cooper and rubber washer and reuse the steel washer and you can save the clip.

                  Tim:

If you have access to a lathe, the professional canister rebuilders cut a thin and shallow circular groove in the bolt at the retainer clip location. Then install an "e-clip" or a snap ring to replace the retainer (which is otherwise a hammer it down friction fit on the bolt).

Professional cans are powder coated and silkscreened........but you can also use a decal, and then spray finished can with a satin clear coat to keep it looking good for a longer time. You can also just paint black with semi-gloss paint vs powder coat.

I know this is an old thread, but....

I am yet to find a vendor that has a canister rebuild kit. Wheres one available? I am missing the rubber washer and its matching metal washer that goes beneath the metal cup.
                        Any suggestions?

Which way does the retainer clip go back on with fins upward or downward?

                              Hi!
I want to rebuild my can without a kit and would sincerely appreciate
comments/suggestions from anyone who has done so.
My concern is how to remove the retainer clip in a manner that
                              won't unduly degrade/compromise it's original retention function.
                              Thank You.
