    Re: 1993 zr1 keys

Makes perfect sense. I would not have considered it but just so happens I do have the original battery that came in this exact car in amazing condition but clearly from a judging standpoint . not to worth the effort

    Thanks guys !

I agree...It's time consuming and expensive to convert an original battery. The points gained v. time and money spent can make it hard to justify. Thing is, some folk want to make the car correct as possible. It is more suited to a PURELY "trailer queen" for sure. It's not about fooling a judge or getting one over on them...it's simply trying to make the Corvette as correct as they can.

I would imagine if a C4 Mech I judge were to see a correctly dated battery that gave off no obvious signs of altered CDIFC, they would award 100% originality points. To do otherwise would not be in the spirit of what NCRS judging is about. I've done a little bit of NCRS judging (as well as that other place) and I've never strained my eyes on a component to prove an owner is trying to pull a fast one. My favorite judging partner, Dick Whittington, said many times, "if it walks like a duck..." Our 1979 4 Star went through Flight several times with a restored original battery with zero deducts.

We have 4 PURELY "trailer queen" Corvettes...all very low miles. They all have original, dated battery casings. I like how they present when the hood (or storage lid) is up.

      To each their own
