66-427 Air cleaner silk screen

I have a NOS air cleaner assembly (lid, filter, base, GM #6423907) packed as received new, in the original GM box. I purchased this from my local GM dealer in 1988 per the date on the GM label of the box. The lid does not have silk screen printing on the underside.

Does any one know if GM discontinued the silk screen after a certain production date for their replacement parts?
Also, I believe this assembly was applicable to other GM cars which may explain the silk screen delete.
Any information on this is appreciated. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Many of the service assemblies did NOT have silk screening on the lids. I have seen one dated 1968 that had the silk screening on it, but nothing after that. Not saying it wasn't possible, but i haven't seen one....ARA

Ara, Thanks much for your comment. It makes sense to me that the silk screen might continue for at least a couple of years beyond the original production date of 1966. The fact that I purchased this assembly in 1988 also makes it reasonable to believe that the silk screen would no longer be included....Rich
