I used a black line from Paragon this year on a 70 and it was fine. I had to take the radio out to access the line at the back of the gauge.

Or, you can get a NOS, made in the USA.

Is this something you'd want to replace with "old stock" material?

Do you want to tear the dash apart just to change this? Maybe replace it when you need to get into the dash.

Mark, I’m not excited about changing this but every time I drive my ‘69 it’s in the back of my mind as something thats ready to fail.. Best is to replace it with a part that stands a good chance of also lasting 50 years. Probably old stock is not the ticket.
The last time I had the dash apart was to change the clock 25 years ago

Really need to see when was the last time this item was available from GM. It could be only a few years old, and was only recently discontinued. You might also check to see if the GM Part # is still available or has been superseded.

I am not convinced that this is an item that needs changing......but that is OP's decision.

The only reason I changed mine was because the rubber firewall grommet had slid out many years ago and the oil line had chaffed thru on the sharp fiberglass edge of the firewall hole. The black oil line material was not brittle and did not appear to be deteriorated at all.

I haven't heard this was a common failure or a part that requires servicing. Have you?

On the other hand, there's a significant risk of a buggered up dash or console after R&R.
