    72 T-Top Weather Stripping

Need to replace the T-Top weather stripping on my 72. Who makes the most accurate replacement or are they all the same? Never had one apart, did the plant use adhesive to attach to the t-top?

Ed years ago I used Doc Rebuild. His weatherstrips had the the latex coated like the factory ones. You can use the 3M yellow weatherstrip adhesive.a pretty simple straight forward job.

Short answer, neither current source is 100% correct.

You have Corvette Rubber in Cadillac, MI, and you have Metro Moulded Parts.
I'd lean towards the Corvette Rubber pieces, but would probably leave the originals in place unless you're taking your 72 in the rain anytime soon.

Thanks Ed and Patrick, The rubber is fine except for the side window contact area. I would like to do the Road Tour to Alabama next summer and not sure how weather tight it will be. Do any of you know if the new stripping has the steel reinforcement like the original and if GM used the 3M yellow weather stripping glue, as it looks like the stripping is held in mechanically?

I don't think that it's steel reinforced, but you could always call and verify.
It's been over 25 years since I installed it, so I can't recall offhand.

As noted in a recent thread, the DAP Weldwood contact cement is much closer to factory correct than the yellow gorilla snot sold by 3M.

There was/is no glue on my 1970 removable hardtop panel weather strip. it is all held in mechanically.
