    Re: 72 LT1 timing tab

Our 72 LT1 VIN 26756 July 21, 1972 build date, has what appears to be the OEM timing chain cover with a timing tab that is identified as 71 in TIM&JG. I am aware of a survivor (but restored) 72 LT1 06645 Nov 71 build date, that has the 71 style timing tab. I surmise that indicates GM must have changed timing tab styles between November 71 and May 72?

Fred, another mystery, see tab from #17275 LT-1 built March 27, 1972 that I am currently restoring. Can I guarantee this is what it left St. Louis with? no, but I do know that until I got the car, the block had never been apart.
