I used the Pilkington Glass about a year ago when restoring my 67 if your curious as to what it looks like.

Yes, with 20 points originality on a midyear, 50% deduct on standard deduct sheet, equals 10 points?? Seems heavy CDCIF is not being followed?
Using CDCIF should be 4 points, wonder if anyone would ever review this?

I agree with that being a heavy hit, everyone I have every talked to has gotten a 10 point hit for a repro windshield.

Yes, the standard deductions apply, no CDCIF, so a smaller minor item like tinting gets a 50% deduction, go figure.

If I remember correctly, Pilkington has stopped selling their repo windshields thru their Classic Auto site online. I bought one 2 yrs ago and had it direct shipped to my local Pilkington dealer. It was the new design with the tint closer than before. Even though it may not be 100% right, it was close. I'm not sure who they are now selling thru. The w/s's were made in Mexico. There may not have been enough volume to continue production. Pilkington is a major OEM auto glass supplier worldwide. Search previous threads on this Board. Jim (I can't remember his last name) here on the discussion board worked closely with Pilkington to modify the design to meet NCRS specs.

Jim Durham posted on this exact topic in 2019:

              https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...947#post858947

              In that posting Jim said:

They [Pilkington] now make the windshield band correctly and it will not receive a deduction in judging. Members can PM me for more info. if needed.”

It would be interesting to hear Jim’s view about the current posting. Evidently there is the same standard 10 pt deduction before and after the improved tint band existed. That’s must be disappointing to many.

Yes windshields are STD deduction, and at the Texas regional, there was a tinted windshield missing the AS 1 and had the wrong color tint. 50% hit. There were also original windshields at the event that received no deduction.

If you're persistent, you can find one. I got a properly dated one for a survivor 1967 about four years ago. We did a windshield installation seminar last year on an early '67 that had a generic replacement. The owner paid $1,500 for the correct piece and our Texas Chapter did the installation.

Yes, they are out there, I scored one Monday from Pete Lindahl's (RIP) stash of original parts. Still a lot of money for 10 points......

I'll be calling Auto City for tinted side glass for a 63 coupe. (vent & door). Has anyone received these pieces from them and if yes, how was the etching? Were you happy with their product?

                      Thanks

Harry, from what I have seen the etching is fair, but what gripes me is the location of the etching, it is too far up the glass vs the original. Have you checked EBay?

Yep, tinted 63 side glass dated XC is rare.
