Hi All,
I am putting a door panel together using items from Al Knoch and have some questions:
(1) The attached picture shows the door panel cardboard and a darker smaller piece in the middle. My old door panels have the middle piece pretty much like this one. But Al's kit includes TWO of these for each door panel whereas old door panels have only one. What is the purpose of this extra piece?
(2) The second picture shows the door panel upper rail cover, the piece that is even with the top of the door. My old one is on the left. What is supposed to be the replacement is on the right. It is two inches shorter than my old one and pointed, whereas my old one is squared off on the end. I have looked online and my new ones look like 53-55 ones, but I can't find a good pic of the 56-57 ones to be sure. So, do I have the wrong covers?
(3) My old rusted armrest supports are metal and have three tabs that go through slots in the door panel and bend down at the back to help hold the support onto the panel. Al's are plastic, which seem fine, but there are no tabs, although Al's cardboard has the three slots. So, should I try and make something to replace the tabs, or is just the metal piece on the door itself sufficient?
Thanks,
Bob
