Not long ago, I went to a neighboring state for their annual NCRS Chapter Business Meeting. The host had a wonderful barn and an equally cool workshop. He asked us a quiz question about the (not yet installed) replacement (used) frame he had found for his 1967 Corvette.
He said: "How can you tell this frame came from a Corvette with side pipes?" The agreed upon answer was "there's no evidence of threads or ground strap witness marks on the cross member that under the car pipes would have passed through."
After a couple of weeks back home, I began to wonder: What if the frame in question came from a car with no radio? Could you still determine (from the frame only) if the car it came from had side exhaust?
