    I'm think'n a short in my 78 Silver Anniversary

    When I start the engine I notice:
    the battery warning light in on;
    the tach is frozen;
    the battery gauge is not working;
    the "lights on" chime begins when I turn on the parking or head lights;
    the cigar lighter does not work.

    Some times everything works fine until I begin driving a while, then the "short" takes affect.

    Read the article on "Fusable Links" by Dick Robinson (and thanks, good timing) but I'd like to start at the issue if I can. Otherwise I'll have "Now where the hell does this go" parts all over.

    Thanks for any help.

    Check your grounds! Especially the ground cable off the starter that connects to the frame.
