Emblem removal

Does anyone have a suggestion how to safely remove the gas door emblem on my '84 so I can clean and polish the area around it? I removed the two acorn nuts from behind but the emblem is stuck on with what appears to be foam tape. I don't want to damage the paint or emblem.

Use fishing line under the emblem, do it slowly.

And soak the double sided tape residual on the door with goo gone.

Dental floss will also work. "Saw" back and forth under the emblem. Slowly as suggested by Mike H.

Yes, I have performed this fishing line/dental floss removal in the past but I was hoping to reinstall the emblem after cleaning and polishing. Will I still be able to reuse the emblem with damaged tape?
