    69 Ebrake cable support

When I tore my chassis down for blast and repaint I removed this spring support from the rear e-brake cable near the trailing arm. There was one on the left side.

I have now reassembled the entire chassis and assumed there was one of these for each side. However, I cannot find this part anywhere in any book or from any parts supplier and in talking with other restorers and parts people they have not seen this.

I am now wondering if it even belongs on the car at all. Has anyone seen this part before??

    Thanks,

    Mark

My original owner 1969, a very late car built in September, 1969,never had the device you depict from the day it was delivered to me new. I am 100% sure of that.

It's possible this was used on 1970 models (although I really doubt it). So, if it was used on 1970 models and if your 1969 was an even later build than mine, then, perhaps, it's original to the car. Have you checked a 1970 AIM? I'm 7,000 miles from my copy so I cannot do it at the present time.

my brake cable comes real close to rubbing on tire , i had to play with it a bit . I wonder if this was happening and someone added this to prevent that

Not on my 1970, but it is an end of January build so it is not that far from Joe's October built 1969. Many moons ago I used to judge chassis for 1968 to 1972 and I can't recall ever seeing an arrangement like that spring and clamp. I believe the suggestion that it was inspired by a previous owner is spot on.

Thanks guys. You all confirm my suspicion that it does not belong. My car is Dec 68 build.
