Second time around I’m changing this leaky sending unit on my 66. Replaced the entire sender, metal ring and o-ring last spring. I have the ring tool also. Tank is an OL Anderson... I don’t think it’s original. The last replacement sender set was from Ecklers. Not sure if o-rings are deteriorating or they are the wrong diameter? looking for others with same problem and offer some solutions.

Re: Gas Tank Sender Leaking Again
I had the same issue with my 63 with a repro "O" ring until a CF forum member sent me an NOS version which worked and is leak free. You are supposed to soak them in oil overnight before installation (or so I was told). Here is a comparison of a repro ring to an NOS ring.

Re: Gas Tank Sender Leaking Again
Paul, I had the same problem a couple of years ago when I replaced both the tank and sending unit on my '67. In my case, luckily a friend of mine had several gaskets where we were able to compare the thickness of them. The one that came with the repro sending unit measured .210 thickness. My buddy had one that measured .250 thick and we used it. I no longer have a leak problem. I hope this helps you with your problem. Brooks Glover Jr. (2141)- Top
