    Bob------

I think that if you smear the gaskets with an RTV sealer like Ultra Black this will be fine. As a matter of fact, it would probably be OK as-is but I would not want to chance a re-do so I'd use the sealer. You could have the surfaces machined but then you'd have to use thicker gaskets.

By the way, I do not think that pump backing plate is correct for a '609' pump BUT IT'S THE ONLY ONE I'D USE. PERIOD!

The dozen and a half or so 609 pumps that I have had over the years had that backing plate, including two bowtie cars, so I would vote for it being correct.

Note the linear depressions between the bolt holes. I do not think this feature began until well after the '609' pump was out-of-production. However, this is a very important feature. Once-upon-a-time I did some pressure tests using both the earlier type without the depressions and the later with the depressions. I could not get the early type to hold 15 PSI.

Joe - here is a NOS one without the ribs.
I picked it up about 15 years ago for less than $10 at a swap meet.
It sat around for years, ended up trading it to Bill Mock a few years back when I was looking for a 399 for my LT1.
I think Bill was in shock when I told him I had this pump.
I had no idea how scarce they are until speaking to Bill.

Here is my Bill Mock restored 609 pump - it was the best of three he had for sale, as far as corrodded/pitted flange connections, those might seal, however I've used JB-Weld (regular not the QiK) to make repairs on such things such as my 63's thermostat housing flange and it lasted for 1/2 decade leak and problem free. I'm sure my approach will scandalize some here
