Skinning a Door Panel

I have a couple of questions regarding putting vinyl on a door panel. I have pre-made vinyl pieces (both waffle and smooth) and armrest metal. I purchased new repro backing from one of the common vendors.

First question: I received two RH, two LH large cardboards. These measure about .110" in thickness. Do I glue these together to make a single RH and a single LH backer? Or was I shipped an extra RH and LH?

Second question: Is anyone aware of a write up or video of the correct process of doing this? Particularly, I am curious about the junction between the waffle and the smooth vinyl. I am guessing that I mark the hockey stick trim extents on the backer, then trim the two vinyls to create a butt joint (no overlap) which will be covered by the trim when installed - BUT, I am just guessing. The installation of the vinyl around the armrest also is not quite obvious to me.

I can't answer your questions but wanted to say how impressive it is that you're doing this yourself. I had my door panels reskinned and never considered tackling it myself. But then, I have a tailor sew on my shirt buttons. Please post a photo essay of the project's progress; I believe many will find it of great interest.

Have you approached the supplier with your questions?
