1965 Corvette 396 carb base plate question

I have seen two different numbers/letters cast into the rear leg of the base for the 396 carb.
I have seen 12R42 and R2916. Which one is correct or are they both correct?

    Thanks, Mike

Re: 1965 Corvette 396 carb base plate question

the best way to evaluate for original 3124 and the 3247 base plates: they are the only holleys that i'm aware of have a slip fit of the lever that activates the accelerator pump. all others have a nut machined into the lever and the other base plates are threaded for their levers. i've sold off all the 65 and 66 BBC vets so i can't answer the question u posed. however, i have a 3247 manufactured in 1970 and its base plate has very small stampings which i can't read. i think it's base plate stamping ends in a 2. but i can't read the rest of the stamps. mike
