69 Wiper Door Control Asm and Area

It's my understanding that the wiper door control assembly was painted as a unit and I assume it was semi-gloss black?

Also, the area that retains the assembly (see AIM image), do the various brackets, re-enforcements, screws, nuts, etc. get put on after blackout and should therefore appear with original finish/paint and not be over sprayed with black?

Everything I took off is painted black but not sure that is original and, while I found lots of relevant info in the judging manual, did not find the answer to this question.

    Thanks!

Okay, I did find in the judging manual where it says painted semi-gloss back and the area is blacked-out. I have the latest manual and it's a great source of information as is this group!

How about the brackets - ASM #14 3953013 (and 4)? Should those be painted or the original bright (zinc?) finish?

I would paint them semi-gloss black. I believe they were dipped painted semi-gloss black. Looking through my wiper door, windshield gap, they look that way.

            Gary,
There is a wiper door operating assembly (most of it) in the storage locker with the 1969 L89/M40 parts. That should give you a better look. I think the assembly is a little glossier than semi-gloss, but words are not adequate for these kinds of distinctions.

That door operating assembly would have come to St. Louis as one piece and likely was already painted. It would have been put on the car after the engine compartment black out operation, so no black out on the opening mechanism or the parts Jack is talking about in his other post.

Then the parts put on the assembly during installation - from the ASM #14 3953013 brackets and its screws, adjusting nut and screw, etc, would be whatever color/finish in which they were manufactured, correct?
