    69 427 steering arms

The steering arms on my car have 2 holes. One is for the standard ratio the other is for a tighter ratio (according to a couple of sources). I have power steering and F41 suspension. I reassembled the chassis using the tighter ratio (i think its the front hole). Does anyone have experience using the tighter ratio with power steering or is it better to run the standard ratio? I expect the steering to be more responsive with the the tighter ratio but I'm not sure with power steering. The use of the front hole (according to one source) is for manual steering. Appreciate any feedback from those who may have tried both settings as to which one is better.

    From the late John Hinckley:
"When the factory installed power steering, they also installed a large aluminum plug in the rearmost tie rod end hole in the steering arm and peened it in place so it wasn't possible to use that hole. That was done to protect the seals on the power ram, which could be damaged by overtravel when using the rearward hole. See photo below. "

Mark, I believe the forward most hole is for power steering and the rear hole is for non-power steering.

The standard steering position should NEVER be used with power steering.
