So yours reads CJ5463? Maybe mine is service replacement.

I'll crawl under and check it again tomorrow. Maybe I didn't get the whole thing. It's possible I missed the 63.
129 would make sense for my build date of mid Feb 63.

And CX is a 3.70 open for close ratio

Took another look at the axle code this morning and it's quite hard to read but now I see CX 1 29 63. I missed the 63 previously. Date is correct for a mid-Feb build date.

So is it correct to be coded CX if it is posi? I assume "standard" means non-posi.

Seems odd that the 3.70 axle ratio is the only one where positraction is optional with the 340 hp and 360 hp 4-speed. Even the 3.08 is mandated as posi. Any guesses as to why that is?

Just took another look at the chart of G81 optioned cars in the initial post in this thread. If you do the math there are 318 L84 or L76 cars that were made with standard axle (Code CX).

Also looking at the powertrain chart, I suppose you would get the base 3 speed trans if you didn't select M20 option. Does Noland's book give a breakdown of transmissions vs engine options? Were there any L76 or L84 cars built with 3 speed trans?
