Re: Questions about the staples for the outer/smaller splash shields (FOR JUDGING)
As I stated above I searched in all of my reference manuals and could not find the information. In the absence of information, one could reasonably presume that the answers to my questions are of little importance and that the color / orientation doesn't matter, but I didn't feel comfortable making that presumption. Haha.
In the absence of this information I reached out to the wealth of knowledge possessed by this forum because many have gone before me and have probably asked the same questions or figured it out. It's okay to tell me that it does not matter (for judging purposes) in which direction the staples are installed nor what color the staples should be, but if it does matter I'm glad I asked before possibly needing to undo or redo something.

Here are some originals from a Mar64 car. The staples are natural and face upAttached Files- Top

Alan, thanks for that photo. I was wondering if the rubber seal should be left long or removed. Now I know to leave it long. And it's obvious the original staples were natural, but there's still one thing that I'm still unclear about... In your picture above, are we seeing the "head" of the staple or the "legs" of the staples? Thanks.

No reference to the topic of my next question in the judging guide, so again I come back to the forum for input...
When the rubber seal is installed on the splash shield(s), do these ribs face down toward the road or up toward the seats?

Up towards the seats, again only a sample of 1 original Mar64 car. Would not be surprised if you find original cars with mixed samples, since
it seems these can be installed either way.- Top

All,
For full disclosure, those GM service replacement splash shields were sold without the seals. So, the seals you show stapled onto those NOS shields were added by the person who bought them, not by GM.
