    Re: gold line tires

If I remember correctly, when I was talking to Bill (the owner) he indicated that 6.70/15 is the correct one for the '65 Corvette. Tire manufacturers changed their nomenclature to 7.75 in '65 and later. Honestly your best bet for questions is to call Diamond Back - I'm just a satisfied customer.

      Leif,

The sizes you list make sense to me. The sizes DB lists are not similar or radials. The DB sizes are:

      1000-15
      BR70-15
      560R15
      670R15
      700R15
      710R15
      820R15

if there was a 775R15 size, I would understand things. The DB sizes sound too small or too big by more than seems reasonable.

        Re: gold line tires

I was thinking about buying a new set of gold line radials for my '65, but since DB doesn't offer a Firestone brand radial tires in the gold lines like they used to I guess I may be stuck buying the BF Goodrich gold line radials. I bought the Firestone gold lines from them a few years ago to match my original Firestone gold line spare. My plans are to have the car flight judged in the future, driving it to the NCRS meets and wanted to keep it as close to what it came with originally. They did not offer BFG's in '65. The Firestones I have have a few years on them but very few miles. May just stay with what I've got until I'm done with judging. This is a picture of the Firestone gold lines that are on my '65. Thanks for the info on the current gold line availability.

          Re: gold line tires

James is correct, according to the 1965 (6th ed) Corvette TIM&JG, Firestone Super Sports and Goodyear Power Cushion were the only original bias-ply gold-line tires available for the 1965 Corvette from the factory. In my search two years ago, I could not find any comparable Firestone "branded" or Goodyear "branded" radial tires available on the market, so I settled on the BF Goodrich branded "vintage" gold-line radial tires for my car.

          Best regards, Elliott
