66 427/425 voltage regulator - 1119515 cover temperature

Replaced the VR in my car. Took it for a ride. Checked under hood and VR cover was very very hot. Is this normal ??

Hi- Checked my L72 regulator cover after an hour or more trip- I have no idea what "normal" is, but this one (pretty sure it is original to car #37xx); measured 142 degrees. (I used a quality infrared thermometer)

Finally got to check my voltage regulaator cover temperature after about an hour driving and it was 142 degrees. I also used a quality infrared thermometer.
