Hi,

I'm a new '69 owner and as I have gone through the car, I have come across this switch above the dashboard seat belt warning light. I can't locate its description in the '69 owners manual, TIM&JG, or the AIM. I've tried using it but either its broken or it's doing something I can't see. I appreciate the help.

It shuts off the air flow through the A/C vents just above it. The lever is described on page 26 of the Second Edition 1969 Owners Manual.Larry

Re: Can't find this switch in any book or manual-1969
Thanks Larry, does it refer to it with a name? I have the first edition of the manual (Dec. 3, '68 car) and it doesn't specifically identify the switch, just the controls with the roller wheels and fan speed. I find it interesting that it isn't identified in the judging guide or shown as part of the dash switches. Regardless, when I take it out again I'll give it another try.
Appreciate the answer, Steve- Top

Attached is the page from the owners manual. Why it is upside down I do not know. It was correct in the picture file I downloaded it from.Larry

Re: Can't find this switch in any book or manual-1969
And there you go!!! Thanks. That makes sense and may mean that I need the 2nd edition manual for my car, December 1968, and not the 1st like I thought. I wonder exactly when GM began distributing the 2nd edition, but if it was on December 1, (since the 2nd edition is dated December 1968) then I should have it since it definitely shows the switch. The first edition does not have it. Was it an oversight on GM's part to not include it in the 1st edition or did they add the switch four months into production with A/C cars? Regardless, thanks for clarifying and sending the info along.- Top
