1972 TCS Explanation and flow chart.
My A/C is now charged but I have no 12vdc to the compressor. Does someone have an explanation of how the system works to get my 12 volts. All original parts are in place

Are you asking about TCS or AC?
Either way, refer to the wiring diagram for an understanding of the circuit. The shop manual or AIM are two references. Dr Rebuild offers an easy to read illustrated schematic too.Mark Edmondson

I think the TCS has some control on whether you get your 12 volts to the compressor

Probably the fuse. It plugs into the a/c wiring to the compressor (green wire). No difference in appearance shorted or not.
