    '69 Seat back lock assembly

I couldn't understand why my drivers seat back in my '69 could be pulled forward without having to raise the lever on the side of the seatback, so I looked behind the plastic seat back and saw that raising the lever only moved the upper catch but not the fork. The rod is still attached to the catch but nothing so I then found the spring just flopping in place. My question is, is the spring broken and where does it connect so it will operate properly? Thanks in advance. I just purchased this 350/350 Daytona Yellow convertible 4 speed and am trying to work out the bugs that I've come across. Also, how does the back come off the seat. It seems to be attached at the top of the seat, below the headrest, but I didn't want to force it. I haven't been back on the forum since you all helped me with my '58 fuelie 15 years ago so I'm out of practice. Much appreciated, Steve

Re: '69 Seat back lock assembly broken?

Here is an update on the '69 (and other years) seat back lock assembly. From the pictures, the lower lock (shown as slightly yellow in photo) was retracting too far and the spring wouldn't hold it in place, preventing it from interlocking with the seat bottom latch. It wasn't until I looked at my passenger seat operation did I realize that this little 1" metal "stop" bracket has fallen off and allowed the latch to go too far. I will try and get this welded on as it looks like it just fell off. Not even sure what held it in place as there was no visible sign of a weld. Anyway, just an update if someone else has this issue.IMG_5196.jpg
