    does this look correct

started working on my 68 again after about 15 years, so of course i will have lots of questions. this one is about the fan/fan shroud distances. to me the fan looks to be NOT inserted far enough into the shroud. I have posted a thread before about the correct part numbers and 9it appears that the shroud might be a repalcement. the fan of course is NOT correct for this car, but is shouldn't affect that insertion distance

    here is what I have

Dale your shroud has the shapes a 68 427 shroud has. Your fan clutch looks like a replacement. Original big block fan clutch had a shorter shaft than small block by if I recall a 1/4". Going from memory which isn't what it use to be , the corvette big block fan clutch from water pump flange to fan flange is 1 1/2" and small block 1 3/4". Your fan may have wrong shape also. It's been discussed how getting parts wrong here may get the fan too close to the upper shroud piece, causing damage. I have a number of examples.
